A Research on HCCA Mechanism of Wireless LAN Access

چکیده
Analyzed the quality of service (Qos) scheduling mechanism of IEEE802. 11e, discussed the simple scheduling algorithm (Simple Scheduler) and its deficiencies exist in supporting variable bit-rate service (VBR). And then proposed a improved algorithm which adapts to the real time VBR service. The algorithm can dynamically adjust the service interval and the TXOP of per flow. Finally, implement the algorithm on NS2. Compared with the HCCA, simulation results show that our mechanism effectively improved the delay and transmission efficiency.

Various realtime multimedia applications will be provided in next generation Internet where IEEE 802.11e wireless LAN will be widely used as broadband access networks. The characteristics of the wireless channels in IEEE 802.11 (i.e., fluctuating bandwidth and large error rate), however, impose challenging problems in the efficient QoS-guaranteed realtime multimedia communications with strict Q...
متن کاملA Cross-Layer Design for Video Streaming Over 802.11e HCCA Wireless Network
Video transmission over wireless networks has quality of service (QoS) requirements and the time-varying characteristics of wireless channels make it a challenging task. IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN has been widely used for the last mile connection for multimedia transmission. In this paper, a cross-layer design is presented for video streaming over IEEE 802.11e HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA)...
متن کاملEnergy efficient feedback-based scheduler for delay guarantees in IEEE 802.11e networks
Energy saving algorithms for 802.11 Wireless LAN (WLAN) are basically based on keeping in a low-power state the Wireless Network Interface Card (WNIC) whenever a wireless station does not have frames to be transmitted/received. This can severely affect the QoS of the service provided to higher layers due to the transient time needed to switch from a low-power to a high-power state. Recently, th...

متن کاملFeasible HCCA Polling Mechanism for Video Transmission in IEEE 802.11e WLANs
IEEE 802.11e standard defines two Medium Access Control (MAC) functions to support Quality of Service (QoS) for wireless local area networks: Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) and HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA). EDCA provides fair prioritized QoS support while HCCA guarantees parameterized QoS for the traffics with rigid QoS requirements. The latter shows higher QoS provisioning ...
